Summary: | Neutron activation analysis was used to measure 20 trace elements and standard chemical methods were used to measure 8 chemical parameters in an assessment of drinking water quality from Rajpura city, India. Most of the city's water was derived from shallow aquifers with the aid of hand pumps. Almost all water samples were highly polluted with trace element concentrations and other related chemical parameters exceeding World Health Organization (WHO) recommended values. This pollution was attributed to decades of indiscriminate disposal of industrial and domestic waste in this region. |
