Description
Summary:The Stefan problem on the movement of the freezing plane in multilayer objects is considered. Numerical methods for integrating the heat-and moisture-transfer equations are used to solve this problem in practice during calculation of the current coordinate of the freezing front in multilayer external protecting structures with time-dependent surface temperatures. During integration of the Stefan equation, the phase-transition process is taken into account via an abrupt jump of the material's specific heat in the vicinity of the phase-transition temperature. Examples of numerical calculations of the time dependence of the freezing plane's position in multilayer structures are presented. An algorithm for determining the current coordinate of the dew point in multilayer objects is proposed.
