While the bimb ligand reacts with Zn(NO 3) 2⋅6H 2O and NaN 3 or AgClO 4, complexes [Zn(dimb) 2(N 3) 2] n ( 3) and {[Ag(dimb)]ClO 4} n ( 4) with one-dimensional chain structure were obtained. When the ligand dimb reacted with Cu(NO 3) 2⋅3H 2O, a two-dimensional network {[Cu(dimb) 2(H 2O) 2](NO 3) 2} n ( 5) was achieved, in which the metal atoms had octahedral coordination geometry. The structures of these coordination complexes were determined by X-ray crystallography and the results revealed that both coordination geometry of metal atoms and conformation of ligand have great impacts on the structure of the supramolecular architectures. Magnetic properties of Mn(II) complexes were also investigated.
