Summary: | Binary FePd has been isothermally annealed at 600 deg C after cold deformation in metastable face-centered cubic (fcc) state to produce equiaxed L10-ordered polycrystals. Combinations of X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy have been used to study microstructural and texture evolution during annealing. A model has been proposed to explain the unexpected retention of the major components of the cold-deformed fcc texture in the fully phase transformed L10-ordered FePd. |
