Summary: | Selected problems which emerged from axial compression tests of thin-walled beams joined by spot welding are presented. The specimens were subjected to fixed loading. The effect of the size of the weld's diameter and the pitch of the weld on the amount of absorbed energy was studied. A discrete model was built and FEM strength computations of the thin-walled beams, taking into account physical and geometrical nonlinearities, were performed. |
