Summary: | A method was developed for the determination of existing and future industrial pollutant loads in metropolitan areas suitable for industrial development. The conceptual approach described was defined both for domestic and industrial sources. Land-based unit pollution values were proposed as key parameters in the process of load estimations. A case study of the areas in the Corlu region (Turkey) gave an average value of 1.0 litres per second.ha and 170 kg COD per d.ha. The parmeters exhibited significant variations depending on the structure of each industrial zone. A major prerequisite for optimal wastewater characterization and management was the detailed evaluation of pollutant profiles. |
