Summary:Equations were developed for estimating the respiration rate and oxygen transfer rate in the activated sludge process while controlling the concentration of dissolved oxygen. The air flow rate was used to control the dissolved-oxygen concentration in an oscillating fashion around its set-point. Results are presented from tests on this procedure at Malmo sewage works.
