Summary: | Cataract is one of the main causes of vision deterioration in the population of Russia. In spite of progress in surgical treatment of cataract, its early diagnosis is an urgent problem. A method for early threshold diagnosis of eye cataract is suggested. This method is based on detection of scattered light excluding detector exposure to light flux directly passed through the object or reflected from the object surface. This is the nephelometric method. As object turbidity increases, the fraction of light passed without scattering decreases (turbidimetric detection) and fraction of scattered light detected nephelometrically increases. This method can be implemented using a combination of noncoherent optoelectronics and fiber optics. |
