EVIDENCE FOR MICROWAVE-INDUCED RECRYSTALLISATION IN NiZn FERRITES
A series of ferrites of composition Ni1-xZnxFe2O4 (x = 0-1) was prepared by calcining the mixed oxides at 1100 C, followed by microwave sintering at 1275 C for 30 min. The specimens were then subjected to microwave H-field irradiation for 90 s, and characterised by XRD and Mossbauer spectroscopy. Th...

Summary: | A series of ferrites of composition Ni1-xZnxFe2O4 (x = 0-1) was prepared by calcining the mixed oxides at 1100 C, followed by microwave sintering at 1275 C for 30 min. The specimens were then subjected to microwave H-field irradiation for 90 s, and characterised by XRD and Mossbauer spectroscopy. The lattice constant increased more slowly with increasing x when the samples were subjected to H-field irradiation. It was concluded that microwave-induced recrystallisation occurred over the compositional range x = 0.4-0.6. 10 refs. |
