Summary: | Lacrimal bypass tubes create a fistula from the conjunctiva to the lacrimal sac or the nasal cavity. Fluoroscopic nonoperative placement of a plastic stent has shown successful results in the treatment of epiphora. Polyurethane lacrimal stents have been reported as a safe, easy, non-surgical treatment in the treatment of distal lacrimal obstruction. Recurrence due to stent occlusion of the granulation tissue is common. Stent displacement is very rare. We presented the first case of the stent protruded into the mouth in the literature. |
