Summary: | Studies 1 and 2 were two scoping reviews mapping epidemiological PFD data in male and female athletes as well as available interventions for females.4 5 Study 3 focused on developing a new screening tool for PFD in female athletes through a worldwide Delphi consensus.6 This tool was designed to be used by sports medicine clinicians to refer their patients to a PFD specialist (eg, pelvic floor/women’s health physiotherapist, urogynaecologist/gynaecologist, urologist) for further evaluation and treatment. The analysis highlighted a higher number of studies on female athletes, particularly focusing on urinary incontinence across multiple sports. Prevalence of urinary incontinence in female athletes: a systematic review with meta-analysis. |
