Summary:Currently a professor, vice chair, and division chief in the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Cincinnati (OH, USA), and Director of the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) StrokeNet clinical research network, she has also served on several US Food and Drug Administration advisory panels and clinical trial safety monitoring committees, has provided clinical care to stroke patients for nearly 20 years, and has been an associate editor of the journal Stroke. Around this time, the thrombolytic therapy intravenous tissue-type plasminogen activator, or alteplase, was starting to be used to treat acute ischaemic stroke. Khatri relaxes at home with her family, friends, and Weimaraner dog, but loves her work, which is a huge part of her life.
