Isothermal calorimetry reveals that successful regeneration after a spinal cord injury in larval zebrafish is associated with an increase in energy expenditure

•Isothermal calorimetry was used to measure heat dissipation from zebrafish larvae.•We found differences in heat dissipation coming from different numbers of larvae.•Larval zebrafish show higher heat dissipation after a complete spinal cord injury.
