Summary:•Remote otology and rhinology services are currently in wide use across the world.•Trained technicians facilitating the consultations offer higher diagnostic accuracy compared to patient-led self-examination.•Early economic analyses for remote populations demonstrated the superiority of telemedicine for ENT, compared to patient transfer or healthcare providers' travel.•Both patients and clinicians have demonstrated positive attitude towards different remote ENT services, as well as the prospective of their wider use.•Incorporating remote services in routine clinical practice will be the next step in their wider implementation.
