Simple method to fabricate large scale quantum dot architectures

We present a facile method of incorporating CdSe/ZnSe core/shell quantum dots (QDs) into 600 nm diameter pores of a two-dimensional lattice made by interference lithography of spin-coated SU-8 photoresist on Si substrates. The luminescent assembly can be formed in an area as large as 1 cm 2. Confoca...

Description
Summary:We present a facile method of incorporating CdSe/ZnSe core/shell quantum dots (QDs) into 600 nm diameter pores of a two-dimensional lattice made by interference lithography of spin-coated SU-8 photoresist on Si substrates. The luminescent assembly can be formed in an area as large as 1 cm 2. Confocal luminescence microscopy shows that the QDs can readily fill via capillary action into hexagonal hole arrays with a depth of about 3 µm and a periodicity of about 1 µm. The fabricated large scale architectures are expected to be useful for optical devices such as light emitting diodes.
