Summary: | The importance of flame retardants in the plastics industry continues to grow. Higher performing materials are meeting increasingly stringent legislation, and environmental pressures in certain regions are driving flame retardant producers to offer solutions using a wide range of chemistries. Interest in nonhalogenated flame retardants to replace halogenated flame retardants is growing more than ever, particularly in Europe. Halogen-free technology has been evolving for more than 15 years, but it has only gained significance in the past three to four years. It started as a marketing concept then developed into a real market, where the products offered can now meet demand. |
