Description
Summary:Business and society scholars need to better understand the motivation, process, and impact of the firm's participation in addressing problems at the local level as well as the dynamics of stakeholder relationships that are created, sustained, and/or destroyed in the process. It is argued that scholars may benefit from an augmentation of the current social performance and stakeholder literatures by placing an emphasis on the social problems and by developing measures to evaluate whether and how the social problem is addressed by those most affected by the problem. This study uses a longitudinal case as a setting for developing theoretical connections among several key strands of business and society thinking, particularly issues management and collaborative social problem solving.
