Summary: | The standard ASTM test method, D-3574 Test E-Tension Test, for flexible polyurethane materials has been automated by integration of a video imaging system, a personal computer, and a laboratory scale robot. The manual cellular polyurethane foam tensile test measurements, stress and ultimate elongation, have been replaced with a sample handling/preparation robot and non-contacting video measurement of sample elongation. This automated application has eliminated a significant amount of the manual labor while accommodating a large sample demand. |
