Summary: | Gadolinia-doped ceria (GDC) ceramics were by mechan ochemical synthesis of ceria and (10 mol%) powders with subsequent uniaxial and pressureless sinterin g. The mechanochemical was conducted in an attrito r with different media: neutral (distilled water) , basic (aqueous of ammonia), acidic (aqueous solut ion of acid), and non-polar medium (xylene with st earic The effect of suspension composition and attrit milling time on the sintering behaviour and ionic ivity of GDC was studied. An attritor milling of 3-6 h was the optimum milling time from the of further s intering behaviour. Longer milling resulted in nanomet re-sized powders, whose behaviour deteriorated due to powder The appearance of agglomerates in the non-polar was reduced. The ionic conductivity of the was evaluated by impedance spectroscopy and corr with their microstructure. |
