Resonance Raman scattering from the superoxide ion

Diffuse reflectance spectra of KO2 and of caesium oxide containing the O2‐ ion exhibit a broad absorption maximum near 300 nm extending into the visible range, due to the 1πg←1πu transition of this ion. Raman spectra of these substances excited at 457.9 nm show the O2‐ fundamental and first overtone...

Description
Summary:Diffuse reflectance spectra of KO2 and of caesium oxide containing the O2‐ ion exhibit a broad absorption maximum near 300 nm extending into the visible range, due to the 1πg←1πu transition of this ion. Raman spectra of these substances excited at 457.9 nm show the O2‐ fundamental and first overtone with moderate intensity, and in the case of caesium oxide the second overtone is also weakly observed. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
