Summary: | Nanosecond time‐resolved CARS experiments were carried out on solutions of anthracene in the lowest excited triplet electronic state in order to investigate the resonance behaviour of the strongest totally symmetric Raman vibration around 1365 cm−1. Lineshape analyses of series of time‐resolved CARS spectra recorded at different pump laser wavelengths are used to determine the dispersion of the appropriate complex‐valued CARS amplitude unambiguously. The experimental results are compared with the theoretical predictions of the sum‐over‐states and the transform theory in the scope of the Condon approximation.
