Summary: | The effect of aluminum and nitrogen on the microstructure of the ultra-low-carbon Nb-IF (interstitial free) steel was investigated. Steel with higher aluminum and nitrogen contents showed equiaxed ferrite grains in the hot-rolled steel and continuously annealed steel. Decrease in either aluminum or nitrogen content, however, resulted in the mixed microstructure of small and large grains with wavy grain boundaries in the hot-rolled steel and the pancake-shaped ferrite grains in the continuously annealed steel. |
