Combustion wave stability in diluted TiO2/Al/C system in atmospheric air
This research is based on production of TiC/Al2O3 composite using combustion synthesis method in TiO2/Al/C system in air. Simultaneous effects of green density, preheating temperature, and the amount and particle size of diluents (Al and Al2O3) on the reaction were assessed. Results are compared wit...

Summary: | This research is based on production of TiC/Al2O3 composite using combustion synthesis method in TiO2/Al/C system in air. Simultaneous effects of green density, preheating temperature, and the amount and particle size of diluents (Al and Al2O3) on the reaction were assessed. Results are compared with thermodynamic predictions. XRD tests approved the formation of predicted phases. The products contained long Al2O3 whiskers of submicron thickness. It is proposed that the whiskers have directly formed when sublimating from vapor phase. |
