Summary:A computationally efficient finite element model that can provide accurate numerical solutions to the problem of a semi-circular edge-notch in a finite size laminated composite plate under uniaxial tension is presented. Numerical results showing the effect of composite material proper ties and laminate designs on the stress field are also presented and discussed.
