Summary:BEFORE DISCUSSING Part 2 of the course, it may be useful to see where the supplementary subjects of Part 1 stand in relation to the course as a whole, especially as they are intended to be essentially ‘practical’ subjects. These subjects are not intended to raise the level of Part 1, nor are they in any way entry requirements for Part 2—a student may complete the whole course satisfactorily without taking any of them. What then are they for? There are four main reasons for the supplementary subjects.
