Summary: | Precision agriculture is seen as a likely future option for agriculture in China. Western developed countries have made remarkable progress in precision agriculture, but in China it is a completely new phenomenon. China is the world's largest agricultural country with the greatest population, and the progress of its agriculture and agricultural technology have significant implications for developments in the rest of the world. This article provides an overview of the current status and likely future development of precision agriculture in eastern China. The topics reviewed include propagation of the concept of precision agriculture; precision agriculture technologies adopted in China; the development of precision agriculture in eastern China; the effects on agricultural policy; and developments in precision agriculture in the country as a whole. |
