Summary: | Most studies of the societal impact of events on public opinion have been focused on the area of politics and dealt with intentional events. However, less is known about the impact of tragic events which were not intentionally caused. This study investigates how the media reacted to a fatal medical failure--the death of a woman shortly after having received a heart transplant, as well as public perceptions of organ donation after the event. |
