Description
Summary:At NATO's Prague Summit, the alliance agreed to expand its membership by seven states. One state, Slovenia, has received considerably less analysis of its military and defense capabilities as compared to the other newly invited members. This article examines Slovenia's efforts to modernize its Armed Forces, its defensive and weapons' capabilities, and Slovenian public opinion on NATO and the global 'war on terrorism'. Although Slovenia's military is quite small and still needs important reforms, this analysis suggests that it is making the necessary adjustments to provide useful 'niche' contributions to the alliance.
