Description
Summary:The "one country, two systems" formula devised by Deng Xiaoping to solve the Hong Kong problem envisaged an economically autonomous Hong Kong that was to be politically dependent on the Central People's Government (CPG). Six or seven years after the sovereignty handover, however, Hong Kong finds itself being gradually assimilated into the Mainland system. Here, Holliday et al discuss the dialectics of Hong Kong dependence after the government handover from Great Britain to China in 1997.
