Summary: | A study was conducted to examine the initial design of parliamentary electoral systems in the regions of the Russian Federation. Data were drawn from a comparative analysis of four regions - Saratov oblast', the republic of Udmurtia, Novosibirsk oblast', and the republic of Buryatia. Findings revealed that although the comparative analysis shed some light on the design of different regional electoral systems, its results cannot provide an exhaustive list of the potential causes of electoral system choice.
