Summary: | During the past decade, there has been a tremendous advance in the understanding of economic development. Conflicting claims in this large and growing literature are yet to be sorted out. An attempt is made to highlight some of the key emerging themes in the literature and to put them in a new light. Therefore, a view is described of the recent literature on cross-country growth, some new empirical findings are presented, and the main directions for future research are discussed. |
