Summary: | Federal facilities present great challenges for environmental cleanup and compliance. To ensure that federal facilities, like private facilities, comply with environmental requirements, EPA exercises enforcement authority against other federal agencies. EPA also assists these agencies with cleanup and compliance through such programs as base closure support, technology development, and pollution prevention. Through these programs, and with increased stakeholder involvement, federal agencies may build trust and set examples for private sector cleanup and compliance. |
