Summary:Leigh, Huffaker, and Shumway describe the nearly 10-year-long process leading to the formal adoption of a coordinated Ph.D. program between economics and agricultural economics in early 2001 at Washington State University. While the development of a coordinated program was not orchestrated as a direct response to the Commission on Graduate Education in Economics, its results conform strongly to their recommendations.
