Description
Summary:Swirl flows are present in various technical and natural processes. This is a reason why this phenomenon attracts so much attention and is being thoroughly investigated by numerous authors. Numerous experimental techniques, such as with classical probes, hot-wire probes, laser Doppler anemometry systems, and recently the particle image velocimetry technique are widely used in the study of this phenomenon. Modern techniques provide instantaneous velocity field data, while classical probes measure time-averaged velocity and pressure fluid flow fields. Here, Benisek et al illustrate probes measuring possibilities in a complex fluid flow and point out the functionality and quality of the presented new classical probes.
