Sources of current awareness information are included . Introduction The literature on the homeless is vast and growing rapidly. 1 Articles and books are being published with increasing regularity by professionals and pundits alike, reflecting a wide variety of academic disciplines and political perspectives. Within the field of law, much of the early writing on the homeless was descriptive, focusing on litigation undertaken to establish basic rights such as the right to emergency shelter, 2 or prescriptive in offering legal theories for future litigation. 3 More recently, there has begun to emerge an analytical literature that seeks to identify structural causes and to highlight the broader contexts in which legal issues affecting the homeless should be viewed. 4 Poverty lawyers are producing helpful compendia of legal precedents, 5 and academics are looking for jurisprudential angles on the issues. 6 Future efforts of both practitioners and legal academics may benefit from the thought and the experience expressed in the existing literature on the homeless. It is for that purpose that this bibliography was designed. This is an annotated bibliography of secondary literature (books and articles) on law and the homeless in the United States. Primary sources, such as court decisions, are not included, although citations to such sources certainly abound in many of the items listed.
