Summary:Libraries in Hungary should play an important role in the information market as they have large collections of relevant documents, they have the necessary communication technology and expertise to use it, they have professional staff trained in information enquiry and they are obvious places to which people can turn when seeking information. There are libraries already providing business information. BUES Central Library has a significant collection of CD-ROM databases relevant to business (e.g. ABI, Business Periodicals Ondisc full text, International Statistical Yearbook, SEC Online, WISO (Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Literatur - CD-ROM edition), IBFD (International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation) European Taxation, UK Corporations, etc.). It is mounted on a local area network (LAN), and can be accessed online as well. More and more county and city libraries engage in business information services, e.g. Veszprem, Zalaegerszeg, Bekescsaba. Some of them offer not only general but tailor-made services as well, owing to their knowledge of local conditions and the needs of the local business community.
