Description
Summary:Reports a study showing that women with a female blood relative diagnosed with breast cancer are more likely to be interested in breast cancer gene testing that women in the general population. Finds perceptions of increased personal risk for ovarian cancer were associated with interest in genetic testing for breast cancer-related mutations among women with a family history of the disease. Finds greater perceived psychological benefits and fewer perceived costs of breast cancer gene testing were associated with interest in gene testing for women in both groups.
