Summary: | The Russian as a second language textbook Perspektiva ([Perspective], 1994) by Kostina et al is presented, & its four basic principles are discussed: (1) the triad "didactic goal - ways of its completion - end result," (2) the communicative relevance of the material & its linguistic difficulty level, (3) the material's organizational suitability for instructional units, & (4) the division of learning activities into tasks & drills.
