Description
Summary:From statistics & dialogues with leaders & militants as well as illiterate people who were never taken into account, some aspects of the Second Republic elections are revised. Variables such as habitat density & illiteracy are introduced because they design interior frontiers & offer an unheard-of political & social vision. As a result, among other things, we can discover that the conservative bourgeoisie grouped around the Lliga without possibility of buying votes, was the one that favoured workers abstention, & that small bourgeoisie led by Esquerra Republicana de Catalonia never promoted a class party which would have consolidated its pact with proletariat preventing maybe the civil war. On the other hand, comparing elections in 1936 with those after dictatorship in 1977, it can be seen that neither the growing of middle class nor the influence of television effaced attitudes or memories, which proves the sensibility of Catalan electorate. In spite of the forty years passed by & the insistent Francoist propaganda, the spatial distribution of the two big political tendencies was maintained, no doubt because the implantation of social classes did not radically change in Barcelona.
