Summary:Within the last 20 years historical changes have strong influence on global events. Environmental threats. changes in the global power structure, the fight for resources, the American dissociation from the United Nations & terrorism are challenges to the world community. These problems, in addition to continuation of the European process of integration & the positioning of Germany within the EU, pose difficulties for the German foreign & security policy. Germany can protect its security interests by a return to a "healthy patriotism" & a deliberate & self-confident relationship with the concept of power.
