Description
Summary:The world needs institutions and environments that elevate and explicitly address qualities of peaceableness so that these qualities become pervasive in societies. This paper introduces and explores the concept of cultures of peace. It reviews the history of the concept and establishes how cultures of peace can be identified and developed. Finally the paper discusses the role of peace centers in this process. It is important to create places where researchers and laypersons can find the inspiration they need to work towards peace in their communities and throughout the world.
