Summary:A conceptual scheme of basic themes of the human life process is presented. 3 levels of basic thematic treatment of human life are deduced, & within each level the same 6-fold sub-division into single themes is applied. Thus 18 basic themes of human life are established in the terrestrial life of a symbolizing, soc primate such as man. These themes are categorized as follows: Body-centered themes-1) metabolism; 2) natural environment; 3) life cycle; 4) irritation & rest; 5) health & disease; 6) sex, eros, procreation. Psyche-centered themes: 7) orientation; 8) inner states; 9) activity, handling challenges; 10) soc environment; 11) positive & negative sociotropy; 12) dominance & submission. Culture-centered themes: 13) language & knowledge; 14) cultural objects; 15) the arts; 16) norms & instit's; 17) ethos, existence, philosophy; 18) transcendence, religion.
