Summary: | This report looks at the recent publication prepared by the UN Population Division which examines the demographic situation in most advanced nations, but especially in Europe. With fertility at incredibly low rates, the question must be asked: "Will Europe run out of people?" The UN report looks at how much immigration would be needed to maintain current population size, assuming that fertility rates remain at present levels. In this review, the implications of such momentous movements are also discussed. |
