Motivating and reinforcing functions of the male sex role: social analogues of partial reinforcement, delay of reinforcement, and intermittent shock
In a study examining the functions of the male sex role, comments made by the adrogynous male were judged as more appropriate and honest than the comments made by the masculine counterpart. The adrogynous male was also rated more likable, more intelligent, more moral and more mentally healthy.
