Description
Summary:The author briefly refers to Vincenzo Ruggiero's Organised and Corporate Crime in Europe. Offers That Can't Be Refused (Dartmouth, Aldershot, 1996), where he argues that, despite the great merit of Edwin Sutherland, the conceptual confusion in criminology around notions such as "corporate crime," "white-collar crime," "occupational crime," "organizational crime," & "organized crime" are caused by Sutherland's definition of white-collar crime. The author outlines the differences between organizational crime & organized crime. Furthermore, he briefly analyzes the annual report on organized crime, published by the Belgian police force & clarifies the definition of "criminal organization" in the new law. He presents an illustration on money laundering & concludes that, so far, legislation has but contributed to the blurring of the boundaries separating white-collar, corporate, & organized crime. 1 Figure.
