Summary: | This article analyses the scholastic and vocational options that lie behind 9th grade students' plans for the future. It sees these plans as emerging from a field of possibilities in which elements such as socio-economic resources, schools and sociability networks form a specific, dynamic and determinant framework, the study of which makes it possible to go beyond the individual and free-choice perspective that is generically attributed to choices of both options at school and plans for the future. Observation of these aspects, particularly those that most directly concern school, leads to the construction of a typology with which to interpret the plans identified in the study. |
