Summary:The Santiago is one of the most important rivers in western Mexico & one of the most contaminated in the country. The Municipality of El Salto, located on its banks, is an emblematic case that shows how the excreta of society "returns" to it, affecting its health, when there is no model of balanced interaction with the environment. This study analyzes the well-being of the El Salto inhabitants from the perspectives of human prospering & political ecology. A quantitative type instrument is used that reflects the level of quality of life, & the analysis is complemented with in-depth interviews to find out how they themselves evaluate the impacts of contamination on their well-being.
