Summary: | Terror in Colombia does not risk invented or inherited opposition. Ethnic, regional, or cultural sources of hate do not matter, nor does political conflict. Rather, terror is put to use in the coldly calculated strategies of a wide variety of protagonists. It is a product of antagonism, concurrence, & cooperation. The strategies of the protagonists can be described in three ways: (1) territorialization, imposition of an authoritarian rule on a given space; (2) definition of time oriented toward their calculations & objectives; & (3) construction of allegiances, either voluntary or instilled by force. Implicated terror blurs the distinction between objective & subjective, concrete conditions & representations. E. Sanchez |
