Description
Summary:The author indicates the importance of communication in the interactive relationships of human beings. The importance of various kinds of non-verbal communication between adults and young children is noted, with psychomotor tensions between mother and child particularly emphasized. Cultural and class differences in non-verbal communication patterns are called to attention. The important role which the family socialization experience plays in moulding the child's social perception and his attitudes and values is noted. It is concluded that verbal and non-verbal communication plays an important role in marital adjustment and is, in fact, 'the key to family interaction.' D. E. DeGroot.
