Summary: | 357 Negro women residents of Worcester County, Maryland were used to ascertain patterns of family limitation. It was found that: (1) 19% of the husbands used contraceptives; (2) 10% of the women had been surgically sterilized; (3) younger women practiced contraception earlier in life than their older sisters; (4) high incidence of douching and low incidence of withdrawal is noted, (5) irregular use and lack of skill are indicated by a rate of 44 pregnancies per 100 years of exposure.
